A través de esta asociación, voy a complementar las actividades de early stage investment a través de Patagonia Ventures con actividades de Merchant Banking, Private Equity, Merge & Acquisitions (M&A) y Capital Raising.

Mr. Voltes is the CEO of Patagonia Ventures, an early stage venture capital firm focused on Latin America. He also is the CEO of Emerging Cast Inc. a company dedicated to the production, aggregation and syndication of “short form” videos across the Web and Mobile and TV applications. Previously, he co-founded Digital Ventures and InZearch, two online marketing companies acquired by FOX/News Corporation in July 2007. Voltes went on to serve as FOX’s VP of Global Business Development. GroupArgent represented the shareholders of Digital Ventures and InZearch in the sale to FOX.

He holds a Bachelor in Business Administration (Universidad de Belgrano), a Master in Business Administration (Universidad de Belgrano) and a Postgraduate in Telecommunications (Universidad de San Andres & ITBA).

Robert Baldacci will collaborate with GroupArgent’s Investment Banking Team in serving the firm’s New England clientele. He will also act as the liaison between GroupArgent and Pierce Atwood, one of New England’s leading law firms specializing in intellectual property, corporate finance and M&A matters. GroupArgent and Pierce Atwood offer complementary investment banking and legal services to entrepreneurial corporations in the New England Area.

Hace un tiempo atrás escribí un post sobre la importancia del Foco o concentración de recursos de un emprendedor.

Siempre sostengo que en la etapa del start-up, cuando los recursos son escasos, es importante conservar las fuerzas y energía manteniéndolas concentradas en su punto mas fuerte. Se puede ganar más descubriendo un rico yacimiento y explotándolo en profundidad, que pasando de un yacimiento pobre a otro. La intensidad triunfa sobre la dispersión. Es mejor poner todos los huevos en la misma canasta que diversificarlos.

No se puede dar en dos blancos con una sola flecha. Si tus pensamientos se distraen, no darán en el blanco. Es necesario que la mente y la flecha se conviertan en una sola cosa. Sólo con este tipo de concentración mental y física tu flecha podrá dar en el blanco.

Ya lo decía Goethe:
“Cuídate en dispersar tus fuerzas; por el contrario, procura siempre concentrarlas. El ingenio cree poder hacer todo cuando ve hacer a los demás, pero luego se arrepentirá de cada intento malogrado”.

Los emprendedores vemos negocios en todos lados, es nuestra esencia. El desafío que solemos tener, es poder desechar aquellas oportunidades que nos tientan, para concentrarnos en LA mejor oportunidad.

Si tratamos de perseguir todas, vamos a ser unos buenos para nada… y sino lean la siguiente fábula:

El Ganso y el Caballo

Un ganso que estaba comiendo pasto en un prado se sintió molesto por un caballo que pastaba cerca de él. En tono agresivo le dijo: “No cabe duda de que yo soy un animal más noble y perfecto que tú, ya que la extensión y el espectro de tus facultades está limitado a un solo elemento. Yo puedo caminar sobre el suelo tan bien como tú, y además tengo alas para elevarme por los aires, y cuando lo deseo puedo nadar en lagos y estanques y refrescarme en la frescura de las aguas. Disfruto del poder de las aves, de los peces y de los cuadrúpedos”.

El caballo resopló de forma un tanto desdeñosa y replicó:
“Es verdad que habitas los tres elementos, pero no haces un papel muy distinguido en ninguno de ellos. Vuelas, es verdad, pero tu vuelo es tan torpe y pesado que no tienes derecho alguno a compararte con las golondrinas o las alondras. Puedes nadar sobre la superficie de las aguas, pero no puedes vivir debajo y dentro de ellas, como los peces; no puedes alimentarte en ese elemento ni hundirte hasta el fondo de las olas, y cuando caminas sobre el suelo con tus anchas patas, estirando tu largo cuello y agrediendo con tu grito sibilante a quienquiera que pase cerca de ti, sólo atraes la burla y el desprecio de quienes te ven.
Confieso que estoy hecho para moverme únicamente sobre la tierra, pero… ¡cuánta gracia hay en mis movimientos! ¡Qué elegantes son las líneas de mi cuerpo! ¡Cuán gráciles mis miembros! ¡Cuán grande mi fuerza! ¡Cuán sorprendente mi velocidad! Prefiero hallarme limitado a un solo elemento y ser admirado en él, que ser un ganso en todos.
